Driving License in Sweden
Welcome to Fred Traffic School! We provide professional and pedagogical driving lessons for B-license (passenger cars) with both automatic and manual transmission in Vällingby.
Navigating the Swedish driving license process can be complex. This guide is designed to help our international students understand the requirements and steps needed to obtain a Swedish license while training with us.
1. The Driving Permit (Körkortstillstånd)
Before you can start any practical training—at a school or privately—you MUST have a valid driving permit. This is an official document from the Swedish Transport Agency confirming you meet the medical and personal requirements.
- How to apply: Apply online at Transportstyrelsen.se and complete a health declaration.
- Eye Test: You must visit an optician to have an eye test specifically for the driving license. They will usually send the results digitally to the authorities.
2. Driving Lessons in Vällingby
All our driving lessons begin and end at our office on Vällingbyvägen 132. We follow a government-approved curriculum to ensure you become a safe and skilled driver.
Digital Booking via TrafikskolaOnline

3. Mandatory Risk Training (Risk 1 & 2)
There are two mandatory courses you must pass before you can take your final tests. Please note the language requirements:
LANGUAGE POLICY: Our in-house courses in Vällingby are held in Swedish only and we do not allow interpreters.
English Options: If you need the courses in English, we can book a full-day English session (Risk 1 & 2) for you at the Gillinge training facility.
- Risk 1 (Theory): Focuses on alcohol, drugs, and fatigue. No driving skills required.
- Risk 2 (Skid Pad): Practical training on a slippery track. Note: You must have reached a sufficient level of driving skill to participate.
4. Theory & Driving Tests (Trafikverket)
The final step consists of a Theory Test (Kunskapsprov) and a Practical Driving Test (Körprov). Both are booked through the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).
IMPORTANT: You must bring a valid physical ID (Passport or Swedish ID card) to all courses and tests. Without it, you will not be allowed to participate.
