Driving License in Sweden
English GuideWelcome to Fred Traffic School! We provide professional and pedagogical driving lessons for B-license (passenger cars) with both automatic and manual transmission in Vällingby.
Navigating the Swedish driving license process can be complex. This guide is designed to help our international students understand the requirements and steps needed to obtain a Swedish license while training with us.
1. The Driving Permit (Körkortstillstånd)
Before you can start any practical training—at a school or privately—you MUST have a valid driving permit. This is an official document from the Swedish Transport Agency confirming you meet the medical and personal requirements.
- How to apply: Apply online at Transportstyrelsen.se and complete a health declaration.
- Eye Test: You must visit an optician to have an eye test specifically for the driving license. They will usually send the results digitally to the authorities.
2. Driving Lessons in Vällingby
All our driving lessons begin and end at our office on Vällingbyvägen 132. We follow a government-approved curriculum to ensure you become a safe and skilled driver.
Digital Booking via TrafikskolaOnline
Once you are registered with us and have topped up your account balance, you will receive login details to TrafikskolaOnline. Here, you can manage all your bookings, see available times, and plan your training schedule digitally.
3. Mandatory Risk Training (Risk 1 & 2)
There are two mandatory risk courses you must pass before your final exams. We cooperate fully with top-tier external facilities (Bromma and Gillinge) and handle all the administration and booking for you!
LANGUAGE POLICY: Our external partner courses are primarily held in Swedish. However, both Bromma and Gillinge offer options in English.
Bromma Halkbana (Linta Gårdsväg 24 C):
- English Risk 1 (Theory): Available on Thursdays, July 30th and August 13th (10:30 – 13:45).
- English Risk 2 (Skid-pad): Available on Wednesdays (14:15 – 17:30).
Gillinge (Vallentuna):
- English Risk 1 (Theory): Selected weekdays during summer (Start times: 08:30, 10:45 or 15:30).
- English Risk 2 (Skid-pad): Selected weekdays during summer (Start times: 07:45, 10:15 or 15:15).
- At Gillinge, you drive completely alone in the vehicle during skid exercises, providing an extra calm and safe learning environment.
How to book: Booking is made by contacting our staff via email or phone after your purchase and enrollment in our webshop. You do not need to use external systems.
4. Theory & Driving Tests (Trafikverket)
The final step consists of a Theory Test (Kunskapsprov) and a Practical Driving Test (Körprov). Both are booked through the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).
IMPORTANT: You must bring a valid physical ID (Passport or Swedish ID card) to all courses and tests. Without it, you will not be allowed to participate.

We offer discounted packages that include lessons and mandatory courses. You can save up to 15% by choosing a package instead of individual lessons. Packages are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
